1) 35th Annual General Meeting of MASSA held on 24 June 2026

Tan Sri Azman Hashim, President of MASSA convened the Thirty-Fifth (35th) Annual General Meeting (AGM) of MASSA at the Boardroom, 26th Floor, Bangunan Ambank Group, Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.

Tan Sri Azman Hashim delivered his address welcomed members in-person & virtually the meeting proceeded to unanimously adopt the Annual Report and the audited accounts of the Association for the year ended 31st December 2025.

The President thanked the Executive Committee and Office Bearers for their continuing support and MASSA members for their participation in MASSA events and activities.

The President also thanked Messrs Azman, Wong, Salleh & Co PLT for agreeing to continue to be the Association’s auditors for another term.

2) MASSA-Kolaxus-MAJECA iDeas Xchange #6 on 24 June 2026 at Banquet Hall, Bangunan AmBank Group, Jalan Raja Chulan

The 6th iDeas Xchange was jointly organised by the Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA) and the Malaysia-Japan Economic Association (MAJECA) and with Kolaxus, led by its CEO, Mr Sivavenayakam Velayutham, Executive Committee Member of MAJECA & MASSA on 24 June 2026 at Banquet Hall, Bangunan AmBank Group with the support of microLEAP.

Cognisant of the shared, and rising sentiment for corporate-startup convergence & partnership, for innovation, growth, collaboration, and exchange, the iDeas Xchange Series aims to facilitate and encourage networking, interactions, tie-ups and catalytic partnerships between corporate Malaysia and the Malaysian startup ecosystem.

A total of 75 participants comprising members of MASSA & MAJECA, the corporate business community, Government agencies, academia and the members of the startup ecosystem were present.

MASSA was represented by Tan Sri Azman Hashim, President, Tan Sri Tee Hock Seng, JP, Hon. Treasurer, Mr Sivavenayakam Velayutham, EXCO Member, and its members including Dato’ Aziz Bahaman, Norwest Holdings, Mr Tan Thiam Chai, Berjaya Corporation Berhad, Ms Nur Ida @ Niki Mohamed Kamal, Assistant Vice President II, Business Development, EXIM Bank, Mr Lau Chee Wen, ERMS Berhad & Beijing Healthcare Sdn Bhd. MASSA’s ex-officio, MATRADE was represented by En Naim Abdul Rahman, Director, Central, West, South Asia & Africa Section.

The sixth edition of iDeas Xchange was convened in conjunction with the 34th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian South-South Corporation Berhad (MASSCORP) and the 35th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA).

Tan Sri Azman Hashim, President of the Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA) & the Malaysia-Japan Economic Association (MAJECA), and Chairman of the Malaysian South-South Corporation Berhad (MASSCORP) delivered the Welcome Remarks.

 

Mr Sivavenayakam Velayutham, CEO, Kolaxus and Executive Committee Member, Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA) & Malaysia-Japan Economic Association (MAJECA) delivered the kick-off remarks and moderated the Startup Sharing Session.

The following three speakers from growth-stage companies were identified by microLEAP, shared their respective businesses and partnership areas, modalities & opportunities:

3) Workshop to Prepare for the Upcoming Symposium on Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) from 14-16 August 2026 at Avillion Port Dickson

The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), together with the International Cooperation and Development Division (ICADD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), invited MASSA to participate in a Workshop from 14–16 August 2026 at Avillion Port Dickson to Prepare for an Upcoming Symposium on Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).

The workshop was opened by Dato’ Rus Shazila Osman, Deputy Director General of IDFR, with an introduction to MTCP by Mr Devrin Jeck, Undersecretary of the International Cooperation and Development Division, and briefings by Dato’ Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, Director of the Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy, IDFR. Dr Nadzirah Rosli of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia facilitated.

MASSA was represented by Ms Ng Su Fun, Executive Secretary. MASSA was the only one of two private sector representatives at this workshop. The other being, UCSI University, represented by Professor Dr Mohamad Osman, Deputy Director of IISDS.
